WhatsApp is for people you already have a number for, forever. Mote is for a room that shouldn’t last: a trip, a night out, a group that doesn’t need your phone number or another profile. No account. Link is the invite. We can’t read the chat. When you’re done, leave.
I got it, but people on the site should get this instantly, You don't need to name WhatsApp, but you should explain without naming why it's better for them

The core privacy model is genuinely solid: no account, no phone number, link-is-the-key, sealed messages the server can't read, and self-destruct timers (1 min/5 min/1 hour of quiet) are a thoughtful touch most private-chat tools skip. "We stay outside, we can tell a room is busy, not what anyone said" is a clear, honest way to explain the privacy boundary.
The biggest problem
The one security instruction contradicts the one distribution instruction. You're told "treat the link like a password, don't post it publicly," but the only way to share a room is sending that exact link, almost always over text or DM, the same channels passwords get intercepted on. The product's security model depends on people doing something the product itself doesn't help them do safely. On top of that, the promo banner currently live reads "Please share Moat with anyone who loves Privacy", a typo on a privacy tool's own trust message.
Top suggestion
Add a safer sharing path, a QR code for in-person sharing, or at minimum a warning right next to the copy-link button ("don't send this over SMS/email if you can help it"). And fix the "Moat" typo today.
Ease of use
Genuinely easy: one tap to create a room, no signup, no password to remember unless you set one. The passkey account for saving rooms is an extra step but clearly optional.
Would you use
For a quick private chat with someone I already trust to receive a link safely (in person, on Signal), yes. For anything sensitive I'd hesitate until the sharing story is safer, since the link IS the whole security model.
